When I was in the trenches of change, and feeling extremely lost and broken, I feared being alone because sitting with myself meant I’d have to feel all my hurt

I’ve learned to not resist the hurt, sadness, fear, loss, and loneliness when it shows up, and amazingly the emotions leave as quickly as they arrive. Even more, when they’re embraced with a spirit of acceptance, the result is always a deeper sense of self-love, peace and gratitude.

One Time I saw them while walking on the streets when I was having a rough day and seeing them instantly made me smile for no big reason and sometimes no reason is the biggest reason of all

this letter is for a number of unknown people, a letter of gratitude because I didn’t had the chance to say a big thank you to these people who probably has no idea about my existence nor do I know anything about them except

I understand that this is a learning process, but on these days I feel that I’ve let people down — it feels bad

On a brighter note, I am fortunate that even on my toughest days, when my personal shortcomings are highlighted and compounded with the grief of losing my Mom and a beloved pet cat in the same year, even with a world shadowed by a new pandemic and economic crisis, in a country that is more polarized than ever, surrounded by a population that seems to relish in the despair of others, even in these times, I maintain gratitude for the privilege I was born into, the arguably indefensible comfort that I live in, the consciousness that I’ve woken up into, and the evolutionarily advantageous spark of hope that I kindle and protect as best I can. I love the people I work with and am privileged to have the opportunity to listen to people and connect with them in a time of need.

Peace Within Me

It’s important to be discerning of how much time you choose to spend with people who may not be in alignment with your own nature or those you may feel constantly depleted after interacting with. Of course, you can still be accepting of them but looking after your own well-being as the priority.

Being responsible for your own peace of mind is using your own gauge as to how you feel with certain people and taking action as to how long you choose to spend in the interaction. This gets easier as you form clear boundaries within yourself as to what you choose to do for your own peace of mind.

Sometimes, it’s just a matter of firstly being conscious of how you do feel and listening to this indication. Then you can start to understand that your time is precious and the way you choose to use it can…

It could be as simple as someone smiling at you in the street, or letting you out at a junction (assuming you drive). Just something little that another human does for one another.

They make you realise that actually sometimes you can rely on the beauty of our human nature to force our minds to remember that everything is ok.

Life is beautiful, and everything does get better even though it won’t feel like it all the time. We can hide away all we like but sometimes those moments outside in the real world are what make life worth living.

Smiling and laughing are contagious. I’ve seen videos where someone on a bus will start to laugh and all around him start laughing, too, even though they have no clue what is funny. I’ve seen faces of seeming bitter old people break out in a truly wonderful smile when someone smiles at THEM.

I’ve been in a sad state of mind and DECIDED I would smile at people (and animals) wherever I saw them. Not only did most smile back at me, MY spirits were raised, as well!

I have decided that attitude is all in life. You can’t control much of what happens to you and around you. You CAN control your reaction to it. I’m not saying I think one should go around with a silly grin on your face regardless of what is happening around you. I AM saying that many times you…
