Have you ever found yourself growing frustrated because “that person just won’t listen to my advice,” or because “don’t they seem to recognize how they are hurting themselves by acting like that,” or because “I can’t believe someone could be so irresponsible.”

I know I am guilty of this from time to time.

These are coming refrains we say to ourselves when we are in the midst of taking on other people’s problems. Maybe we feel compelled to solve the problem for our loved ones.  We can’t stand to watch them make a mess of themselves or their lives.

Yet we have no choice BUT to let other people live their lives. However they see fit. Without us making choices for them.  Or telling them what we THINK is the right choice. The bottom line is we cannot make ANYONE do anything they do not want to do.

Why Is It So Hard to Pee Into Those Urine Sample Cups?

Clean Catch, Split Stream, Urine Samples, Urine Specimens

Mary Gelpi's avatarFibroM.E.-Awesome

Is it just me?

If it is, then I should feel pretty vulnerable and embarrassed after this. I’m sorry mom. I really do try and make you proud.

Is it just women? Unknown-3.jpegIt’s hard to say but I don’t think so. I do think requires more skill on behalf of the woman, I would think. Then again I wouldn’t know, I’ve never peed into one of those “specimen catchers” standing up. It seems like all you have to do is aim and shoot. Though I imagine splash-back could be a problem. Also I’ve heard dudes talking about the “split stream”, which would make producing a clean catch pretty tricky. But that happens to the lady folk too. So I’m a making a leap of faith in assuming I’m not the only one who has issues here. Right? Guys? Right guys?

I’ve had to give so many urine samples via…

The Impostor Syndrome

The Paper Oligarch's avatarThe Paper Oligarch

Impostor syndrome – [also known as impostor phenomenon, fraud syndrome or the impostor experience] – is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud”.

“Despite external evidence of their competence, those experiencing this phenomenon remain convinced that they are frauds, and do not deserve all they have achieved. Individuals with this syndrome incorrectly attribute their success to luck, or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they are more intelligent than they perceive themselves to be. While early research focused on the prevalence among high-achieving women, impostor syndrome has been recognized to affect both men and women equally.”

Symptoms: Impostor experience may be accompanied by anxiety, stress, or depression and is associated with thoughts such as: “I must not fail“, “I feel like a fake“, “I just got…

Why don’t I have any Friends?

friendship, happiness, lonliness, self love

imanorac's avatarShark Week Survival Kit Blog

In an effort to build a list for my 21st birthday celebration I sat down to jot down a list of people to invite. I came up with four people, two of which had other plans. “Why don’t I have any friends?” I thought to myself. At first I got very sad and decided that something must be wrong with me. Then I realized these things,

  1. I don’t have friends because I make myself too busy to maintain emotional depth in my social life
  2. I do not reach out to friends I once had because I don’t like to go out
  3. I am terrible at keeping in contact with people
  4. I have anxiety about my future and I have decided that every second that I’m relaxing is a nail in the coffin on my socioeconomic growth
  5. I’m not very fun

I’ve decided that these five points are the reason I…

I need a little help to get by

amomentinmymind's avatarA Moment In My Mind

I don’t ask for help. I am just learning to ask for information I need for work or other things I may need answers too. This week of the flu and the revelations that lying in bed have provided has shown me that I need to ask for help, assistance and then receive it when it comes.

I need to look for more help, professional help to assist me understand what way next for me and what steps I need to get there. If I’m honest with myself the thought of progressing, changing and transforming my life scares me. Can you imagine having the life you’ve always wanted? Petrifying right?

So what is one of the main things that you know if you addressed it that would mean the ending and beginning of everything????

When Things Go Your Way

Life is beautiful.

Sometimes something makes you smile and you realise that life isn’t ALWAYS bad.

There is that one random moment that will happen that will just make you stop and smile, it happens often sometimes we just don’t see it, or choose to ignore it.

It could be as simple as someone smiling at you in the street, or letting you out at a junction (assuming you drive). Just something little that another human does for one another.

They make you realise that actually sometimes you can rely on the beauty of our human nature to force our minds to remember that everything is ok.

Life is beautiful, and everything does get better even though it won’t feel like it all the time. We can hide away all we like but sometimes those moments outside in the real world are what make life worth living.

I’ve learnt lately…

Wanna know something funny? When I was 16 I went to one of those nightclubs for high school kids with my cousin who was also the same age as me at the time. It was around Valentine’s day and it was supposed to be a way for high schoolers to meet other single high schoolers.

When we got there, my cousin instantly found her friends and started dancing the night away. I, on the other hand, stood there awkward and like a scared lost puppy not sure what to do with myself.

I stood in the bathroom and befriended another girl until I could beg my dad to come and pick me up early.

Fast forward to current Gina age 22. I went to Xfinity live with my friends this past weekend and had the time of my life. Instantly when I got there me and another one of my…
