The Pursuit of Happiness
development, happiness, Life, personal growth, pursuitofhappyness
One of the biggest lessons I have learnt to date, is the fact that reality is purely subjective. Overthinking is a part of human nature, however it’s highly destructive to our experiences in life and can take away from our happiness.
William Shakespeare once wrote “there is nothing good or bad, thinking makes it so”.
Amidst the chaotic storm…A sense of clarity awaits
In order to grow in life, we must be willing to let go of our past demons. In life we have both good and bad experiences, we must be willing to grow out of these experiences. We cannot have the good without the bad. Equally we must learn to value our lives in the here and now and willing to have new experiences whilst it is possible.
The dual nature of the world shows that opposite forces can be complimentary, and seeking only positive experience can in…

In reality, low self-esteem affects more people than you think. Low self-esteem refers to how you feel about yourself overall. Comparing, gossiping about others, putting others first, even excessive Facebooking are all signs of low-self esteem. You may say you do these things to stay connected or because “I want to”. The truth is when one is content with themselves, they have healthy self-esteem; external validation is simply an additive, not a necessity to their lives. A person with healthy self-esteem spends the bulk of their time doing things that promote positivity within themselves and exude this in life.
Here are some typical habits which show low self esteem :
- Saying “yes” to everything.
- Negative self-talk or self-criticism.
- Back down when opinions are challenged by others.
- Being indecisive with simple decisions.
- Fearing failure.
- Taking constructive criticism personally.
- Sweating the small stuff.
- Afraid to share your opinions in a conversation.
- Giving…

why do we crave “episodic happiness”?
comparisons, happiness, meaning of life, social media
i wonder frequently; why is there an innate need to compare yourself to others or situations of others to realize your own self worth and in some cases even for being happy in your life.? It’s interesting to note that a large component of our day 2 day happiness is driven when we compare our “fate” or “achievements” with others.
This type of behavior has exponentially expanded with the massive adoption of social media where the access to what “others” are doing is very easy. I believe social media platforms such as FB, Twitter, Instagram, have tapped into the innate need and have successfully monetized it which is brilliant in concept but could have terrifying consequences. What do you call this type of happiness?… Colloquially, i just call it “Episodic happiness” as it’s transient in nature and never lasts for long… The examples are many – I got better grades…

Ever wondered why you can never be mad at your mother for
very long? I Love my mom a lot, like almost all of us. If you see deep inside
its mainly because she loves you, accepts you, corrects you, does a thousand
other things and hence is just irreplaceable. Her entire life always revolves
around you. If we could just take the good part from this, try to use it in
every relationship we come across, we will have a beautiful life.
Mother not only loves you but also helps you become a better
individual, by being strict sometimes same goes with your teacher, your mentor,
or even your manager at work. They just want you to be better than what you
were before. If we do not put every
relationship we have, under the microscope, you will see things can work out
much better. It just takes few…

Why don’t I have any Friends?
friendship, happiness, lonliness, self love
In an effort to build a list for my 21st birthday celebration I sat down to jot down a list of people to invite. I came up with four people, two of which had other plans. “Why don’t I have any friends?” I thought to myself. At first I got very sad and decided that something must be wrong with me. Then I realized these things,
- I don’t have friends because I make myself too busy to maintain emotional depth in my social life
- I do not reach out to friends I once had because I don’t like to go out
- I am terrible at keeping in contact with people
- I have anxiety about my future and I have decided that every second that I’m relaxing is a nail in the coffin on my socioeconomic growth
- I’m not very fun
I’ve decided that these five points are the reason I…

When Things Go Your Way

Sometimes something makes you smile and you realise that life isn’t ALWAYS bad.
There is that one random moment that will happen that will just make you stop and smile, it happens often sometimes we just don’t see it, or choose to ignore it.
It could be as simple as someone smiling at you in the street, or letting you out at a junction (assuming you drive). Just something little that another human does for one another.
They make you realise that actually sometimes you can rely on the beauty of our human nature to force our minds to remember that everything is ok.
Life is beautiful, and everything does get better even though it won’t feel like it all the time. We can hide away all we like but sometimes those moments outside in the real world are what make life worth living.
I’ve learnt lately…

Wanna know something funny? When I was 16 I went to one of those nightclubs for high school kids with my cousin who was also the same age as me at the time. It was around Valentine’s day and it was supposed to be a way for high schoolers to meet other single high schoolers.
When we got there, my cousin instantly found her friends and started dancing the night away. I, on the other hand, stood there awkward and like a scared lost puppy not sure what to do with myself.
I stood in the bathroom and befriended another girl until I could beg my dad to come and pick me up early.
Fast forward to current Gina age 22. I went to Xfinity live with my friends this past weekend and had the time of my life. Instantly when I got there me and another one of my…
